Former Australian all-rounder & Delhi Capitals Assistant Coach Shane Watson on Thursday stated that Prithvi Shaw might miss Delhi Capitals’ last two league stage matches due to an underlying fever. Prithvi Shaw is suffering from fever for the last few weeks & has been admitted to the hospital for the same. The reason behind his fever is still unknown & the doctors are conducting his diagnosis to find the reason for his prolonged fever.
“I don’t know his diagnosis exactly. But he has just had this underlying fever for the previous couple of weeks, which they’ve had to really get to the bottom of it to find out exactly what it was” said Shane Watson in his statement.
“It’s not looking great for him to be available for the last couple of games. Which is a big shame because he is an incredibly skillful young batter, taking the best bowlers in the world down a lot of the time,” he added.
Further, Watson has made it clear that there are chances of Shaw missing playoff matches as well if their side manages to qualify for the Playoffs, the chances of which are very low.
“It’s a big loss for us to not have him. For the last couple of weeks, he has been under the weather. Hopefully, he gets back to full health soon, but unfortunately, it’s not going to be in time for the minimum of the last two games that we’ve got,” he added.
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals are currently at the binge of elimination from the Playoff stage. With six wins & six losses, they are reeling at fifth position on the Points table. They currently have 12 points in their kitty & they would have to win their last two league stage matches & hope other results go their way in order to secure a spot into the top four.
GT, LSG, RR & RCB are already occupying the top four spots on the Points Table. With the unavailability of Prithvi Shaw in their remaining league stage matches & with other teams putting their every effort to qualify for the playoffs, there are very less chances for Delhi Capitals to make it to the top four teams.
Delhi Capitals will next lock horns with Punjab Kings on May 16 at the Dy Patil Stadium while DC will round off their campaign by playing their last league stage fixture on Saturday 21 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
