“Irfan Pathan has fought numerous Challenges in his career”, praised VVS Laxman!


Sharing a lovely picture of Irfan Pathan, VVS Laxman has praised the former Indian pacer for combating numerous challenges in his career.

Former India batsman VVS Laxman on Saturday applauded all-rounder cricketer Irfan Pathan by saying that the player retained his passion for cricket despite facing many challenges in his career. As part of his initiative of paying tribute to his teammates who have influenced him immensely in his career, Laxman shared a photo of Pathan & praised him.

“Despite grappling with his fair share of challenges, @IrfanPathan retained his fierce passion for the sport. Along the way, he embraced the role of an inspirational mentor-cum-coach when still an active first-class player, willingly sharing his wisdom and experience,” Laxman tweeted.

The 35-year-old was termed as the most dangerous swing & seam bowler after legendary Kapil Dev. Irfan Pathan played a crucial role in the finals of the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup against Pakistan in 2007. He grabbed three wickets & returned with the figures of 3-16 in his four overs & was named as the player of the match.

Pathan has also claimed a Test hat-trick for India & the first in the world to claim it in the very first over of the match. In 2006, Irfan Pathan dismissed Salman Butt, Younis Khan & Mohammad Yousuf off in consecutive deliveries.

Irfan Pathan has played 29 test matches, 120 ODIs & 24 T20Is for India, grabbing 301 wickets across all the formats. He also managed to score 2,821 runs by fetching a single hundred and 11 half-centuries. The 35-year-old cricketer has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in January this year.
