Jamie Siddon appointed as Bangladesh’s Batting Consultant

BCB appointed former Head coach Jamie Siddon as Bangladesh’s Batting Consultant for a period of two years. BCB president Nazmul Hassan confirmed that the Australian will work in a different capacity with local cricketers.

“Hopefully in February he will arrive (and then) we’ll fix where he will work. If we feel he is needed in High Performance then he will work in that role. And if we feel if he is required in Under-19 setup, then he will work there or if he’s required in the senior national team then he will be deployed there,” Nazmul said.

Earlier Bangaldesh relieved Jamie Siddons from his coaching duties just days after the National team failed to qualify for the quarter-finals of the T20 World Cup 2021. BCB President Nazmul Hasan appointed Jalal Yunus as the Cricket Operations Chairman.

BCB took this decision after BCB’s previous cricket operations chairman Akram Khan who ran the board’s operations for the last two terms declared that he doesn’t want to be a part of the Cricket Operations department anymore due to Family commitments.

“I am not willing to continue as BCB’s cricket operation chairman anymore,” Akram told media on December 21. “I’ve been here for a long time. So I need a mental and physical break.”

Nazmul Hasan who is serving his third term as the BCB President after being re-elected in October didn’t form any standing committee until December 24. Nazmul asked the chairman of the previous standing committee to run the show until a new one is formed.

“Jalal Yunus, our Jalal bhai, will take over Cricket Operations,” said Nazmul.

“Look earlier what used to happen was that I used to clarify regarding every matter but now that will not be the case. They have been asked to take decisions on their respective committees and were instructed to answer the media when questions were raised about their committees.

Jalal Yunus who was media committee chairman in the previous two terms said that his aim will be to bring back a healthy environment in the national dressing room.

“I think my main task is to bring a healthy environment in the national dressing room. If we can bring a healthy environment comprised with team management, players, and support staff, then that will imply we are on the right track”, Jalal said.
