Latest Cricket News: KKR’s opening batsman Shubman Gill is expected to play in the UAE leg of the IPL 2021. As per reports in Cricbuzz, the KKR batsman is undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA in Bangalore & is likely to be fit till the start of the IPL 2021.

After the WTC final in England, Shubman Gill returned back to India after suffering a shin injury. Speaking about Shubman’s participation in the IPL 2021, KKR CEO Venky Mysore said, “We are quite hopeful that he will be available for the IPL.” The report added that NCA staff are making Shubman Gill work on an Alter G machine – an anti-gravity treadmill that reduces the user’s body weight while running.

A source in the know of the development said, “He is not feeling pain. Gradually his workload will increase – from slow jogging to running twice-thrice a week. We’re confident he will be fine by the IPL which is anyway a month away.”

He also informed that Gill was responding well to the treatment. KKR is planning to leave for Abu Dhai by August 27, though Gill may not be able to leave along with the team this month he is likely to join his IPL team in the first week of September.

KKR had a terrific stint in the first half of the IPL 2021 as KKR could secure just two victories out of seven matches. KKR is currently placed at the seventh spot in the Points Table heading into the UAE leg of the IPL 2021. They have to win most of the remaining matches if they hope to qualify for the playoffs of the IPL 2021. The KKR team will be expecting Shubman Gill to be in a firing form in the IPL 2021 Phase 2. In the first phase of the IPL 2021, Gill scored just 132 runs from seven matches at the top of the order at an average of 30.60.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has issued a complete timetable for the second phase of the IPL 2021 on July 25. The MI will face CSK in the opening match of the IPL 2021 Phase 2. Twenty-nine games took place during the first phase of the tournament in India across multiple cities including Chennai, Mumbai, and Delhi & around 31 games will be played in Phase 2 of the IPL 2021 in UAE.

The IPL 2021 Phase 2 will kickstart from 19th September in the UAE while KKR will play their first game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on September 20.
