The ICC on Wednesday confirmed that Lizelle Lee (South Africa), Tammy Beaumont (England), Hayley Matthews (West Indies) & Fatima Sana (Pakistan) have been nominated for the Women’s ODI Player of the Year award.

The ICC Player of the Year Award for 2021 will recognize the achievements & feats in cricket over the past year. Let’s have a look at the achievements of the nominees for the Women’s Player of the year award 2021

Lizelle Lee: South Africa’s Lizelle Lee managed to score 632 runs in 11 matches at an average of 90.28 by registering one cnetury & five half-centuries. Her exemplary performance in the ODIs helped her to end 2021 as the highest run-scorer in ODI format.

Tammy Beaumont: Tammy Beaumont scored 503 runs in 11 matches at an average of 62.87 by registering one century & four half-centuries. Tammy Beaumont was the joint second-highest run-scorer in ODIs in 2021 tied on 503 runs with Mithali Raj. Beaumont had a dreamy start to the year 2021 by scoring four fifties in her first four ODIs of the year. She was the leading run-scorer in England vs New Zealand ODI series & carried her stunning form in the series against India at home where she ended up scoring 87* in the first ODI itself.

Hayley Matthews: Hayley registered 380 runs in 14 matches at an average of 29.23 by scoring one century & one fifty. She also scalped 18 wickets at an average of 22.44 & an economy rate of 3.33. Matthews was in her best form during 2021 with both bat & ball as she finished in the top 10 ODI run-scorers & wicket-takers list in 2021. She was also awarded as the Player of the Series in ODI format during the home series against Pakistan. She scored 168 runs which included a cnetury & scalped seven wickets in a series that West Indies won by a 3-2 score.

Fatima Sana scalped 20 wickets in 13 fixtures at an average of 24.90 by registering one five-wicket haul. She also chipped in with valuable contribution with the bat by scoring 132 runs at an average of 14.66. After making her ODI debut in May 2019, Fatima Sana played two ODI before the beginning of 2021. However, throughout the year she displayed great determination & ended the year as one of the few top performers for Pakistan in the ODI format.
