Melbourne Renegades re-signs Harmanpreet Kaur for WBBL 2022

WBBL 2022: Melbourne Renegades has resigned Harmanpreet Kaur for the upcoming edition of WBBL on the back of her spectacular performances in WBBL 2021.

“I’m excited to be coming back to the Renegades,” Harmanpreet said. “I really enjoyed being part of the team environment last season and feel like that helped me produce some of my best cricket.”Personally, I just wanted to play my role for the team and it was pleasing to be able to do that.

“We supported each other as a team last year and were able to get some good results, but we still have plenty of room to improve. Hopefully, we can do that, make the finals again and put ourselves in a position to compete for the title.”

Harmanpreet had a remarkable season for Melbourne Renegades in the WBBL 2021. Batting at the No 4 spot, Harmanpreet managed to score three half-centuries & averaged 58.00 while striking at 130.96. In the process, she blasted 18 sixes which was the highest by any player in the WBBL 2021 season. Harmanpreet was also named the Player of the Tournament in the WBBL 2021 for her spectacular stint of 406 runs & 15 wickets which helped her to lead both batting & bowling lists in the tournament. Harmanpreet’s heroics with both bat & ball helped Renegades to qualify for group stages & head to the Challenger stage where they lost to Adelaide Strikers.

“Harmanpreet is one of the best players in the world, her record speaks for itself,” Renegades general manager James Rosengarten said. “She was outstanding for us last season and was a match-winner on multiple occasions, having a prolific impact across the tournament with both bat and ball.

“As an experienced player, Harmanpreet’s leadership and calm approach under pressure was a huge asset for our team. She was a great fit both on and off the field and really bought into our team environment.
