Moeen Ali set to join home county Warwickshire; ends 16-years association with Worcestershire

Senior England cricketer and all-rounder Moeen Ali is all set to join his home county club Warwickshire in a three-year deal contract for the upcoming domestic season. Ali’s long-term contract with Worcestershire will end this summer.

Moeen Ali joined Worcestershire in September 2006 and has featured in over 350 matches for the club across all formats. As of today, Ali has scored over 13,000 runs, chipped in 300 wickets, and lifted three trophies while in association with Worcestershire.

Worcestershire confirmed the lapse of his contract and said that Moeen Ali will always be remembered as an inspirational leader who has played an enormous part in the success of the club. Furthermore, they added that contribution of Ali is remarkable and will be cherished forever.

Moeen Ali in his statement expressed his displeasure to end the contract with Worcestershire. He said that he loved every minute played for the county along with some amazing people and that he owes to the Club for bringing him in and providing a platform to perform.

Worcestershire Head Coach Alex Gidman too regarded Ali as an exemplary all-rounder. He mentioned that it was an absolute pleasure working alongside an amazing talent as Ali and Ali will always be praised for the 2018 T-20 Blast victory of the club.

Meanwhile, Moeen will join his home club Warwickshire for the upcoming county season. Ali is excited to join the club at the Edgbaston in Birmingham and said that he was born and brought up around the streets of the stadium and hopes for a fruitful association with the county.

A lot of speculations were made over Moeen Ali’s red-ball career after he announced his test retirement last year. However, by joining Warwickshire, Ali has put up a full stop to all the rumors and will represent Warwickshire in the County Championship 2022-23.

Moeen Ali last represented Worcestershire in their last T-20 game at the 2022 season of Vitality English T20 Blast. He is a part of the England contingent that is hosting India for a three-match T20I and ODI series beginning from July 7.
