Praising the brilliant bowling effort of Mumbai Indians former India batsman Sachin Tendulkar said that there was not even a single partnership from KKR that looked threatening in the chase of 196 runs put by Mumbai Indians.
Mumbai Indians defeated KKR by 49 runs in KKR’s first match of the IPL 2020. Rohit Sharma was awarded the “Man of the match” for his superlative knock of 80 runs. “Great start by @mipaltan fast bowlers and well supported by Rahul & Pollard. At no stage did it appear that any partnership threatened to chase the target,” Tendulkar tweeted.
Mumbai posted an outstanding total of 195/5 in the allotted 20 overs. Rohit Sharma scored 80 runs while Suryakumar Yadav scored 47 runs which helped Mumbai Indians to reach a fabulous target of 195 runs. KKR bowlers consistently bowled short bowls but still Rohit was able to hit perfect shots on all those deliveries.
Mumbai Indians were successful in defending its target of 195 & did a brilliant task of not giving much runs to KKR batsmen. Bowlers like Trent Boult, James Pattinson, Jasprit Bumrah and Rahul Chahar all got two wickets each. Jasprit Bumrah took crucial wickets of Eoin Morgan & Andre Russell.
In the end KKR’s Pat Cummins played a knock of 33 runs but it wasn’t enough for KKR to defend Mumbai Indians target & thus Mumbai Indians hailed glorious victory. Mumbai Indians will next face RCB on Monday September 28.
