Pakistan is all set tour Sri Lanka for two match Test Series in July

PAK vs SL 2022: The Sri Lanka Cricket is all to tour Pakistan for two-match Test series in July this year. The SLC board has released the itinerary for the same. The two-match Test series will be crucial for both the touring & hosting nation as it will be a part of the ICC Men’s World Test Championship cycle from 2021 to 2023.

The first Test of the series will be played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium in Galle from July 16 to 20. While the second Test match will be played at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo from July 24 to 28. Initially, Pakistan was going to tour Sri Lanka for a three-match ODI series & Two match Test Series in 2022. However, the ODI matches were called off as they were not a part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League for the years 2020–2023.

Previously when Pakistan visited Sri Lanka in 2015, they locked horns with each other in a three-match Test series, a five-match ODI series, and two T20I series. Pakistan had dominated the whole tour by winning the Test series with a score of 2-1. On the other hand, they clinched the ODI series by a score of 3-2 & the two-match T20I series by a score of 2-0.

Pakistan will reach Sri Lanka on July 6, 2022, & later will undergo a few training sessions, Pakistan will play a three-day warm-up game in Colombo, which will start on July 11. Currently, both the teams are one behind the other in the WTC 2021-2023 Points table. While Sri Lanka occupies the fourth spot with a point percentage of 55.56 while Pakistan is fifth with 52.38.

  • 11 to 13 July: Three-day warm-up – Colts, Colombo
  • 16 to 20 July: First Test – Galle International Stadium, Galle
  • 24 to 28 July: Second Test – R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo
