PBKS vs RCB Live Score: The Brabourne Stadium got lit with maximums & boundaries thanks to Jonny Bairstow (66 off 29) & Liam Livingstone’s (70 off 42) heroics with the bat who smashed RCB’s bowlers all across the park & laid the foundation of Punjab’s Scintillating Win. Later, Kagiso Rabada (3) & Rishi Dhawan (2) rattled RCB’s batting order to restrict them to 155 for 9 in chase of 209 runs, registering a massive 54-run win over RCB. The win saved Punjab Kings from getting out of the Playoffs Race & have guided them up to the sixth spot with 12 points in their kitty.
Bairstow-Livingstone’s Pyrotechnics guided Kings to a massive 209 runs
Batting first, Punjab Kings got off to a flier start with Jonny Bairstow & Shikhar Dhawan lambasting 60 runs in the first five overs. Jonny Bairstow was firing right from the beginning of the innings. He clobbered RCB bowlers to put up 66 runs off 29 balls with four boundaries and seven huge sixes. Shikhar Dhawan on the other end provided great support by amassing 21 runs off 15 balls. However soon Dhawan got dismissed off Maxwell’s delivery reducing Kings to 60-1.
Dhawan’s dismissal didn’t affect Bairstow who was going strong at the other end. He kept on hitting boundaries & sixes & brought up his half-century. Liam Livingstone on the crease carried the excellent work & together with Bairstow guided Kings to 100 runs in the 9th over. But their happiness could stay for long as Shahbaz provided RCB a much-needed breakthrough by dismissing Bairstow in the 9th over after scoring 66 runs. Captain Mayank Agarwal took the charge & stitched a brief 51-run stand for the fourth wicket with Liam Livingstone. However, the dangerous-looking stand was broken when Mayank departed for 19 runs. After Mayank’s dismissal Kings struggled to build steady partnerships as wickets kept falling one after the another. As a result, in the end, Punjab Kings managed to put up 209 for 9 in the allotted 20 overs.
For Bangalore, the best bowlers were Harshal Patel who returned with four wickets by conceding just 34 runs. He was well supported by Wanindu Hasaranga who too contributed by scalping two wickets for 15 runs.
RCB couldn’t resist Kings lethal Pace Attack & got bowled at 155-9
In response, RCB got off to a rocking start with Captain Faf Du Plessis & Ex-Captain Virat Kohli going for boundaries & sixes. Virat Kohli looked in great touch as he smashed Arshdeep Singh for two fours in the second over & Harpreet Brar for a six in the third over. Virat & Plessis together constituted a blooming 31 runs stand which couldn’t continue further with Virat walking to the pavilion after scoring 20 runs off 14 balls.
RCB couldn’t capitalize their good start into big scores with Plessis (10) & Mahipal Lomror (6) getting dismissed cheaply. As a result, RCB were lurking 44-3 at the end of the powerplay overs. The side needed a strong partnership to stay alive in the chase and Maxwell & Patidar did exactly the same by stitching a 64-run stand. Glenn Maxwell smashed 35 runs off 22 balls while Rajat Patidar too chipped in with 26 runs off 21 balls. However, the Kings were in no mood to take their feet back as Chahar removed Patidar to put a brake on RCB’s ticking scoreboard. Following Patidar Maxwell got dismissed off Brar’s delivery & this marked the collapse of RCB’s chase. Wickets kept falling & soon RCB were bowled out for 155 runs in the allotted 20 overs.
For Punjab Kings, Kagiso Rabada starred with the ball by returning with three wickets dismantling RCB’s batting order. Rishi Dhawan (2-36) and Rahul Chahar (2-37) also chipped in with crucial wickets to guide their side to the sixth win of the season. With this win, Punjab Kings got rid of the sword of elimination which was hanging right above their head before this crucial game. On the other hand, RCB are still placed at the fourth spot on the Points Table with 14 points in their kitty. They will have to win their next fixtures to reserve a place in the Playoffs.
