What comes as major news for the Indian Cricket fans is that legendary cricketer Rahul Dravid has been appointed as India’s head coach. He would possibly take over the reins of the Indian cricket team from Ravi Shastri after the end of the T20 World Cup 2021.

According to a report published in TOI, a top BCCI official has confirmed that Raul Dravid has agreed to take up the role of India’s Head Coach & will soon resign from his position of NCA Head Coach. “Dravid has confirmed he will be the next head coach of the Indian team. He will be stepping down as the head of the NCA soon,” the top BCCI Official has said.

Rahul Dravid will handle the Indian team’s coaching responsibilities with India’s home series against New Zealand which will commence just three days after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2021. On the other hand, Ravi Shastri’s second stint as India’s head coach will end with the marquee event. According to reports, Rahul Dravid will continue as India’s Head Coach till the end of 50 over World Cup in 2023. His contract as Head Coach is worth 10 crores.

The BCCI was all set to start the hiring process for a Head Coach this week but Jay Shah & Sourav Ganguly were in the favor of getting Rahul Dravid on board.

He has trained several young cricketers such as Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw,  Shivam Mavi, Shubman Gill, and Sanju Samson. Dravid has been deservingly credited for the tremendous transformation of these newbies into all-around cricketers who are taking the Indian Cricket team to laurels of success.

Meanwhile, Paras Mhambrey has been appointed as India’s bowling coach while no decision has been taken on replacing fielding coach R. Sridhar. Moreover, Vikram Rathour will continue as the batting coach of the Indian team.

Rahul Dravid has made his International Coaching Debut for the Indian team earlier this year when team India toured Sri Lanka for the limited-overs series. Dravid made a great start to his International Coaching Career with an ODI series win however the tour ended on a disappointing note as the COVID-19 prone Indian team lost the T20I series with a 1-2 score. Rahul Dravid has also coached the Prithvi Shaw-led U-19 team to a gleaming World Cup win in 2018.
