Ranji Trophy 2021-2022: Shivam Dube ruled out of Mumbai's Knockout matches due to an injury

Ranji Trophy 2021-2022: Shivam Dube has been ruled out of Mumbai’s squad for Ranji 2021-2022 knockout matches. The MCA said that the 28-year-old prolific all-rounder, an integral player of the Chennai Super Kings squad in the IPL 2022, has been excluded from Mumbai’s squad due to a shoulder injury.

Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw has been named as the Mumbai squad’s skipper for the crucial knockout stage of the Ranji 2021-2022 trophy. Prithvi Shaw who missed a few matches of the Delhi Capitals squad after being hospitalized due to typhoid has successfully recovered from it & took the field in Delhi Capitals last league stage fixture against Mumbai Indians which Mumbai Indians won by five wickets.

Mumbai’s squad will also miss the services of experienced Ajinky Rahane who has been ruled out of action for at least 8-10 weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury. Rahane suffered the injury during their fixture against SunRisers Hyderabad on May 14. Due to his injury, he will also miss their one-off Test in England in July.

In the absence of veteran players, the Salil Ankola selection committee has included young Musheer Khan, a prolific performer in the age-group cricket, and his elder brother of Sarfaraz Khan in the 21-member squad.

Young Musheer, an opener, and left-arm spinner had tallied 670 runs in nine games with an average of 67 in the under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy, with two hundred and five fifties. Last year, he was the man of the tournament in the A division Police Shield and the Madhav Mantri one-day tournament. On the other hand, his elder brother Sarfaraz is an integral part of the Delhi Capitals team in the Indian Premier League and has become Mumbai’s mainstay in the longer format of the game with the red ball.

Mumbai is set to lock horns with Uttarakhand in the quarterfinals from June 6 to 10 in Bangalore. The other quarterfinal line-ups are Bengal vs Jharkhand, Karnataka vs Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab vs Madhya Pradesh.
