RR vs CSK live Score: RR beats CSK by 5 wickets to Officially Qualify for the Playoffs

CSK vs RR Live Score: RR beats CSK by five wickets today in their final league stage fixture at the Wankhede Stadium to qualify for the Playoffs. With this stunning win, RR grabs the second spot on the Points Table with 18 Points & a better NRR than LSG. They will now play against Gujarat Titans in the first qualifier of the IPL 2022 at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday.

The match unfolded with CSK winning the toss & electing bat first. Moeen Ali gave CSK a sensational start by smashing a half-century in just 19 balls & riding on his stunning knocks CSK reached 75 for 1 at the end of the power play overs. However, wickets kept falling at the other end, with opener Ruturaj Gaikwad walking back to the pavilion right on the first over of their innings. Conway who stitched an 80-run stand with Moeen Ali in seven overs was sent packing in the 8th over, reducing CSK to 87-2. The next on the dismissal list was N Jagadeesan who went back to the hut after scoring just one run.

Moeen Ali was going strong at one end but lacked support from the other end as players were getting dismissed one after the another. Ambati Rayudu’s dismissal in the 11th over off Chahal’s delivery brought MS Dhoni to the crease. The Moeen-Dhoni duo provided some momentum to CSK’s innings. However, soon Chahal struck again in the 19th over to remove Dhoni leaving CSK struggling at 146-5. In the end, McCoy Obed provided RR with a major breakthrough by dismissing Moeen Ali. The lone fighter, Moeen Ali was sent back after scoring 93 off 57 balls. His blistering Knock helped CSK to end their innings at a decent 150-6 in 20 overs.

For RR Yuzvendra Chahal starred with the ball by scalping two wikcets for 26 in 4 overs. Besides, Ravichandran Ashwin (1 for 28) and McCoy (2 for 20) also bowled beautifully in their quota of overs.

In the pursuit of the target, Jos Buttler as usual got early in the second over itself. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal joined hands with Sanju Samson to help RR recover from an early jolt. However soon Sanju Samson was dismissed in the 8th over for just 15 runs. At the end of 10 overs, RR’s score read 73-2.

Wickets kept falling for RR as none of the batters could convert their start into big scores. Even the likes of Padikkal and Hetmyer failed to deliver with the bat. However, Jaiswal at the other end was smashing CSK bowlers all across the park. At one moment it looked like the match had slipped out of the hands of Rajasthan after Jaiswal (59 off 44) got out in the 15th over.

However all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin stayed on the crease till the end & took their team over the line in 19.4 overs. He ended with a match-winning unbeaten knock of 40 runs in 23 balls laced with two fours & three sixes.
