Sri Lanka to host Asia Cup 2022 from 24th August

The Asia Cup 2022, which was supposed to start on 27th August will now start on 24th August and will conclude on 7th September. The tournament will be hosted by the island nation, Sri Lanka. Although there were black clouds on it due to the political and financial situation in Sri Lanka.

The Asian Cricket Council Asia Cup, which began in 1983, is a men’s One Day International and Twenty20 International cricket competition for Asian countries. The Asia Cup was first held in the United Arab Emirates in 1984, with India becoming victorious.

The most successful team in the tournament is India, which has won the cup seven times until now. Team India won this cup in 1984 1988, 1990 1995 2016, and 2018. Sri Lanka is in the second spot with being five-time champions. The last edition of the Asia Cup was held in the UAE (United Arab Emirates) in which India emerged as champions under the cautious leadership of Rohit Sharma.

According to sources, the Asia Cup 2022 would be held in Sri Lanka from August 24 to September 7, with six countries competing for the title, comprising India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka, as well as one of the qualifiers.

This year, there will be qualifiers that are scheduled to start on the 20th of August. One team will qualify from the qualifiers which will take the toll of the number of teams to six. The five teams which are confirmed to take part in the tournament are India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. The qualifiers will be played by four nations, UAE, Kuwait, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

From 2016 until 2023, The Asia Cup will be broadcasted on Star Sports Network and Disney+Hotstar. This means that in India, Star Sports Network will continue to broadcast LIVE matches from Asia Cup, while Disney+Hotstar will provide live streaming.
