Just a few weeks are left for the commencement of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 & ahead of the showpiece event the BCCI & ECB are seeking permission from the UAE Government to have a capacity crowd for the T20 World Cup 2021 final. The final of the marquee event will be palyed at the Dubai International Stadium on November 14.
According to a report in ANI, the BCCI is willing to have a full capacity crowd for the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Hence the BCCI & Emirates Cricket Board together have approached the UAE government for seeking permission to host a capacity crowd for the finals of the World Cup.
“The BCCI and the ECB are keen to have a capacity crowd for the final. It would be an electric atmosphere if permission for the same if granted keeping all protocols in mind. The boards have sought permission from the authorities, keeping fingers crossed,” a source was quoted as telling the news agency.
The second leg of the IPL 2021 is currently being hosted in the UAE with crowds returning to the stadiums. However, the venues hosting the matches have different rules for the entry of spectators into the stadiums. In Dubai, Cricket Stadium fans need to show proof of double COVID-19 vaccination to get entry into the stadium.
While in Sharjah stadium, only fans above 16 years are being allowed in the stadium for the IPL 2021 matches. Along with the vaccination report, people need to carry PCR test results done 48 hours prior to entering the stadium. A green status on the Al Hosn App is also mandatory.
At the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi fans below 16 are allowed. Those in the age group of 12-15 must have their PCR test reports. Fans above 16 need to have their vaccination proof plus PCR test results. The 48-hour rule applies here as well. Those below 12 must be accompanied by adults who have crossed the age of 21.
T20 World Cup 2021 schedule
The ICC T20 World Cup 2021 will start on 17th October in Oman & Dubai will host the final on 14 November. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will commence with the Round 1 matches. Eight teams will compete in Round 1 matches to qualify for the Super 12 stage of the World Cup 2021.
The mega event will kickstart on 17 October with the Round 1, Group B matches between Oman & Papua new Genuiea at 2 pm (Local Time). On the same day, the other two teams of Group B, Bangladesh & Scotland will lock horns at 6 pm (local time) at the same venue.
Similarly, Group A teams will come into a face-off in Abu Dhabi on 18th October. The Round 1 matches will be played from 17th October till 22nd October. The top two teams of each group will qualify for the Super 12 stage.
The Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup 2021 will start on 23rd October in Abu Dhabi. The contest between Australia & South Africa will be the first match in the Group 1 round of the Super 12 stage. Two other teams from Group 1, England & West Indies will lock horns on the evening of the same day in Dubai.
The group 2 matches will start with a superhit clash between arch-rivals India-Pakistan on October 24 at the Dubai International Stadium at 6 PM (local time).
Abu Dhabi will host the first match of the T20 World Cup Semi-final on the 10th of November at 6 pm (local time). The Dubai International Stadium will host the second semi-final & the final matches of the T20 World Cup 2021 will be played on November 11 & 14. Both the semi-finals & the finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 have reserve day as well.
