Both the teams will come into a face-off for the first time & will aim at starting their T20 World Cup campaign on a high note by sealing a victory. Both the teams have played a couple of warm-up matches before heading into the opening clash.

Oman’s first warm-up clash with Namibia unfolded with Oman winning the toss & opting to bat first. Oman scored 152-8 in twenty overs with all their players contributing to their decent total. Medium pace bowler Kaleemullah scalped four wickets while Khawar Ali and Aqib Iqlas scalped a couple of wickets apiece to restrict Namibia to 120 runs.

In reply, Oman could score just 161 runs riding on the back of Aqib Ilyas’s 78 runs knock. Just a few batsmen of the co-hosts team could muster runs but that couldn’t help Oman to get over the line.

PNG lost both of their warm-up matches. They could put up just 96-8 against Ireland & lost the clash by eight wickets. In their second warm-up match, Sri Lanka put up a decent total of 162-5 against them. Kabua Morea starred with the ball for PNG by scalping four wickets during the innings.
