Two staff members & a bus driver of the CSK squad have tested positive for COVID-19. They have been isolated from the rest of the CSK squad. The team has canceled their practice session after getting the news of their staff members tested positive for COVID-19.

CSK is currently in Delhi for the second leg of the IPL 2021 matches. They have currently played two matches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. One match against SRH on April 28 & One match against Mumbai Indians on May 1. CSK moved Delhi from Mumbai where they played their first leg of the IPL matches. Both Delhi & Mumbai have the highest number of COVID-19 cases in India.

Also, five ground staff members at Delhi & Districts Cricket Association have also tested positive for COVID-19. The staff members have been kept in isolation. This is the second incident within the span of a day when players & staff members in different franchises have tested positive for COVID-19.

Earlier today, two KKR players Varun Chakravarthy & Sandeep Warrier have tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, KKR vs RCB clash gets postponed. The franchise confirmed the news in an Official Press Release & said that the players are kept under medical supervision. Positive COVID-19 cases in KKR’s squad have forced KKR to conduct a daily round of COVID-19 tests to identify any other case & “treat them at the earliest”, said the IPL.

“The Medical Team is also determining the close and casual contacts of the two positive cases during the 48 hours prior to collection of the sample that returned the positive test results,” the IPL said in the media release.

“The BCCI and the Kolkata Knight Riders prioritize the health and safety of everyone involved and all measures are being taken in that endeavor”, IPL concluded its Statement.
