UAE T20 League to be held in January-February window in 2023

The ECB-owned UAE T20 League finally gets its Official Name! UAE’s T20 League has been named the International League T20 (ILT20), the board announced on Monday. The Board has also finalized the dates for the ILT20 league. According to the reports, the ILT20 league comprising 34 matches will be played across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah from January 6 to February 12 in 2023.

The ILT20 might clash with the league that CSA is planning to launch next year & in that context, CSA has also requested Cricket Australia to change the dates of the three ODIs between South Africa & Australia slated on January 12, 14, and 17. The Big Bash league 2023 will likely to clash with the ILT20 while the PSL 2023 will begin two days after the conclusion of the ILT20.

The ILT20 has already got its franchise owners in the face of Shah Rukh Khan of the Knight Riders Group, Mukesh Ambani of RIL, Gautam Adani of the Adani Group, the Glazer family of Manchester United, Kiran Kumar Granthi of Delhi Capitals, and Rajesh Sharma of Capri Global.

“Such illustrious, experienced names and entities as partners bodes well for the UAE T20 League. Through the commitment of these partners they have demonstrated confidence in the Emirates Cricket Board as we take the game into the future,” said Chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board, Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan.

“As we begin this long journey I am confident that together we will achieve new heights and in the process provide entertainment and excitement to the millions of fans around the globe who are waiting for the first ball of the UAE T20 League to be bowled.”

Cricketflicker earlier had reported that the three IPL franchisees who are owning teams in the ILT20- MI, KKR, and DC, will have the right to sign four players from their existing IPL teams. All the teams will be allowed a player fee of USD 2 million, the purse being second-best among the franchise-based leagues after the IPL.

The media rights for the ILT20 for a period of 10 years were purchased for a staggering USD 120 Million by Essel Group-owned Zee Network.
