KXIP’s star batsmen Mandeep Singh recently faced a personal tragedy, he lost his father last Friday but despite of going through such trauma he has scored a match-winning half-century which helped KXIP to register a stunning victory over KKR on Monday & helped the team to step up into the top half of the IPL 2020 Points Table.
Yesterday just a couple of days after losing his father he opened up the inning for his side KXIP against KKR & scored an unbeaten 66 runs off 56 balls gliding his team to their fifth successive win in the ongoing IPL tournament. RCB captain Virat Kohli used to share the dressing room with Mandeep when he used to play for RCB. Kohli was fully impressed with Mandeep’s determination & focus & congratulated him for playing such an outstanding knock despite of going through a difficult time.
Describing Mandeep as the “most genuinely happy cricketer”, Kohli took to his Instagram story to applaud Mandeep for his “positive attitude” & wrote that his father must be blessing him from above. Kohli also went through this phase when his father died in 2006 due to a heart attack while he was playing a Ranji Trophy for Team Delhi. When Kohli’s father died he was just 18 years old & was batting 40 overnight and to his teammates’ surprise, even after his father’s death Kohli resumed his innings the next day & played a valuable knock of 90 runs to help his team hail victory.
Chasing 150 runs, Gayle & Mandeep put on a 100 runs stand for the second wicket to take the game away from KKR’s reach. KXIP who were once played at the bottom of the IPL 2020 Points Table have now moved up on fourth spot & qualified for the playoffs after registering their fifth consecutive victory in yesterday’s clash against KKR.
Virat led RCB are placed on third spot on the Points Table after scoring 14 points from 12 matches. RCB are tied with Mumbai Indians & Delhi capitals & requires just one win to qualify for the play-offs starting from 5th of November.
