The Day 4 of the WTC Final gets washed out as rain continues to play a spoilsport. It’s still raining in Southampton, resulting in the abandonment of play on day 4 of the World Test Championship final between India & New Zealand. As per the reports of the UK MET office, the rainy conditions will stay the same throughout the Day 5 of the WTC Final, leaving a question mark on gameplay on Day 5.

The BCCI took to Twitter to inform the fans that the play on Day 4 is abandoned due to continuous rain. “Update: Play on Day 4 abandoned due to rain. We thank our fans who turned up and kept the tempo high. See you again, tomorrow,” BCCI tweeted.

Earlier on Day 4, the lunch break was taken even without a single ball being played after continuous drizzle delays the start of play on Day 4. Rains had washed out the complete Day 1 of the WTC final. While Day 2 & Day 3 was interrupted & early stumps were called, due to bad weather. The final call on using the reserve day will be taken on the fifth day of the WTC final, probably in the afternoon.

Before the lunch, The BCCI took to Twitter to inform the fans about the delay in the start of Day 4. The BCCI wrote, “It continues to drizzle and we have to state the obvious. Start of play on Day 4 has been delayed #WTC21”.

The Black Caps also took to Twitter & by giving updates about its player’s the Black Caps tweeted, “Wet weather has returned to the Hampshire Bowl so it’s table tennis for now… #WTC21”.

On Monday morning, Dinesh Karthik who is currently doing commentary in the WTC final said that the situation at the Ageas Bowl didn’t look good. Dinesh Karthik posted a weather update on his Twitter account & captioned it as, “Not great atm”.

The zest & excitement among the fans to witness the marquee final was somewhere got diminished due to rains. Bad weather acted as a barrier to enthralling head-to-head competition between the top two finalists of the WTC final.

By considering the current situation, it’s predicted that the WTC Final between India & New Zealand is likely to end in a draw. According to the ICC rules & guidelines, if the test ends in a draw or no result then the WTC trophy will be shared by both the finalist teams.
