Dinesh Karthik who is currently doing commentary in the World Test Championship Final at Southampton continues his trend of giving weather updates straight from Southampton. On Monday morning just a few hours before the start of Day 4 of the WTC final between India & New Zealand, Karthik said that the situation at the Ageas Bowl didn’t look good on Monday morning.
Weather forecasts suggest that there could be heavy rainfall throughout Southampton on Monday. And there are sheer chances of day four’s play of the WTC final between India & New Zealand being washed out. Dinesh Karthik posted a weather update on his Twitter account & captioned it as, “Not great atm”.
Earlier on Day 3, Devon Conway & Kane Williamson managed to frustrate the Indian bowlers & as a result, New Zealand was leading on Day 3 of the ongoing World Test Championship Final on Sunday. On Day 3, at stumps, New Zealand’s score was 101/2 with New Zealand Captain, Kane Williamson playing at 12 & Ross Taylor for 0 unbeaten at the crease. The Black Caps are still trailing India by 116 runs.
In the first innings, India was wrapped up for 217 runs as Kyle Jamieson registered a five wickets haul. During the first innings, Ajinkya Rahane was the highest scorer for India who scored 49 runs. Shubman Gill managed to score 28 runs in the first inning while Captain Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma scored 44 & 34 runs respectively.
However, Day 1 of the WTC final was abandoned due to continuous drizzle while Day 2 saw early stumps called off due to bad light. A decision whether to use Reserve day in the ongoing WTC final or not will be taken on the fifth day afternoon.
