WTC Final: VVS Laxman addresses the weakness of Rohit in front of Trent Boult

VVS Laxman addresses Rohit Sharma's weakness in front of Trent Boult

WTC Final: Former India batsman VVS Laxman said on Tuesday that the batsman Rohit Sharma cannot take his left leg across when batting against pacer Trent Boult. This is one major issue that Rohit has while facing Trent Boult’s delivery.

India & New Zealand will come into a face-off in the WTC final & the New Zealand squad has entered the bio-bubble for the final clash after defeating England in the two-match test series. “I think, not only for Rohit but for any opener, it is crucial to know where your off-stump is. Rohit since the time he has opened, the way he has played even in the Indian Conditions against South Africa, he was very disciplined & he knew where his off-stump was. That is something Rohit can replicate that in the UK he will perform well. We all know what an unbelievably talented batsman he is, a match-winner for the Indian team. Knowing where your off-stump is & letting go of the balls outside the off-stump is something that Rohit requires to focus”, said VVS Laxman while answering ANI’s question during a press conference organized by Star Sports

“Another Challenge in front of Rohit is in the form of Trent Boult who can bring the ball in. He also knows that against Boult, he cannot take his left leg across. These are the two main things Rohit needs to address at the start of the innings”, added Laxman.

Further addressing the battle between Boult & Rohit, the former kiwi pacer Shane Bond said, “During the IPL, Trent Boult was running in & hitting the pads of Rohit, telling him that this is what going to happen in the WTC Final. This was just brilliant, those two were aware that they are going to come up against each other. I just love Rohit Sharma, I see him playing a Matthew Hayden type of role”.

Further praising Rohit Sharma’s batting, Bond said that Rohit is a dynamic batsman & can score runs quickly. He highlighted Rohit’s quality of changing the momentum of change & said that his ability of scoring runs put pressure on the opponent’s bowling attack. Shane bond said that he is eagerly waiting for the two best of the cricketers Boult & Rohit to come into a face-off during the WTC final.

India will face New Zealand in the final of the World Test Championship which will begin on 18th June at the Southampton. After WTC final India will lock horns with England in a five match test series starting on 4th August.
