Sri Lankan cricketers Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera landed in the UAE on Wednesday to join their RCB squad ahead of the second leg of the IPL 2021. The franchise announced the news of their arrival on their social media handles through a post.
RCB welcome the Sri Lankan cricketers wholeheartedly by sharing a welcome post for the duos.
The duos will undergo a two day quarantine before joining the RCB squad for their practice sessions. Both Hasaranga & Chameera have been roped in by the RCB franchise as replacement players for the second leg of the IPL 2021. The franchise has signed in Wanindu Hasaranga as replacement of Adam Zampa who opted out of the IPL 2021 due to personal reasons, while Sri Lanka’s Dushmantha Chameera has been roped in as Daniel Sams replacement.
RCB Players will wear a special blue Jersey during their opening match against KKR in the second leg of the IPL 2021 on September 20 in Abu Dhabi. They will ear a blue jersey to pay tribute to all the front-line workers for their services during these testing COVID-19 times. The blue color of the jersey resembles the color of the PPE kits wore by the front line workers.
The franchise released a video in which the players were seen donning their special blue jersey. In the video the players were talking about the importance of the kit. AB De Villiers, Sachin Baby, Navdeep Saini and Devdutt Padikkal are seen in the video wearing the new blue jersey.
The 14th edition of the IPL will resume in Abu Dhabi on September 19 with a superhit clash between CSK & MI. the action will then shift to Abu where KKR will come into a face-off against RCB. Sharjah will host its first match of the IPL 2021 on September 24 when RCB will lock horns with CSK. In total 10 matches will be played in Dubai, 10 in Sharjah & 8 in Abu Dhabi.
