PSL 6 has kick-started on the grounds of Abu Dhabi with Lahore Qalandars sealing a glorious win over Islamabad United. Rashid Khan starred with the ball by giving away just 15 runs off five balls in the final over to help Lahore Qalandars beat Islamabad on Wednesday.
In the final over Qalanadar required 16 runs to win & to bowl the crucial over, Islamabad United brought Hussain Talat to deliver the last over of the match. But Talat’s fiery pace failed to show its magic, as Rashid Khan hit three consecutive boundaries & scored two runs on the fourth delivery. On the last two balls of the match, Rashid scored two singles to help the Qalandars seal their fourth win as the PSL 6 resumed on Wednesday, 9th June on the grounds of Abu Dhabi.
For Lahore Qalandars, Captain Sohail Akhtar starred with the bat by scoring 40 runs off 30 balls after smashing five fours & one six. Sohail stitched a blooming partnership of 38 runs for the third wicket with Mohammed Hafez, which helped Qalandars to steady their innings after an early loss of two wickets for just 44 runs in 7.4 overs.
However in the next over, Fawad Ahmed helped United to pounce back as he caught Sohail Akhtar in front of the stumps. But David maintained his calm in the crucial moments to register an easy 23 runs off 15 balls.
Earlier After winning the toss, Lahore Qalandars Captain Sohail Akhtar choose to bowl first & got off to a good start as Aussie’s pacer James Faulkner scalped wickets right in the first three overs of the power play. Faulkner fetched three wickets for 32 runs in four overs. Iftikhar Ahmed & Hussain Talat tried to steady United’s submerging ship by registering a flourishing partnership. However, this stand couldn’t last long as pacer Ahmed Daniyal broke their partnership in the 12th over with United losing their half of the batting line up for just 72 runs.
Lahore Qalandar’s left leg spinner Rashid Khan continues to mount pressure on United’s squad with his restricted bowling strategy. Rashid dismissed Talat in the very next over after taking Iftikhar’s wicket. However, Faheem Ashraf came for Islamabad United’s rescue & put on board 27 runs off 24 balls to take their total to 143 for 9. With 99 for 3, Islamabad United could score just 44 runs in the death overs & hence could manage to put just 143 runs in 20 overs on board. With this, Lahore Qalandars have sealed their third win against United out of 11 matches being played & glided on top of the Points Table.
