Latest Cricket News: The UAE government has decided to allow 60% attendance at the stadiums for the second phase of the IPL 2021. This decision was taken after consulting the BCCI & ECB Board as per the media reports.
Earlier when the BCCI has hosted the IPL 2021 in India before it got postponed indefinitely, no crowds were allowed at the stadiums, due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in India. Similarly, no audiences were allowed to watch the IPL matches in the 13th edition of the IPL which was completely played in the UAE. With 60% of spectators attending the IPL 202 1matches in the UAE, it will boost the confidence of the players participating in the IPL 2021.
The second phase of the IPL 2021 will start on September 19 with a match between MI & CSK on the grounds of Dubai. A total of 31 matches including the playoffs will be played in phase 2 of the IPL 2021 while the final of the IPL 2021 is scheduled for October 15. Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah are the three venues shortlisted to host the remaining IPL 2021 matches.
CSK & MI have already landed in the UAE to start their preparations for the remaining IPL 2021. CSK has commenced its practice in Dubai while MI has decided to start its practice in Abu Dhabi. The KKR is likely to reach Abu Dhabi around August 27.
Earlier the IPL 2021 was postponed indefinitely due to rising COVID-19 cases within the IPL bio-bubble. When the IPL 2021 was postponed the Delhi Capitals were at the top of the Points Table with 12 points in their kitty gained by winning six matches out of eight matches. CSK & RCB were second & third on the Points Table by winning five out of seven matches. On the other hand, MI was in the fourth spot in the Points Table by winning seven matches.
RR & the PBKS have won three matches out of seven & eight matches respectively. KKR won two matches out of seven while SRH was languishing last on the points table by winning just one match out of seven fixtures.
