PSL 2021: Shahnawaz Dhani’s four-wicket haul along with Mohammed Rizwan & Sohaib Masood’s half-centuries guided Multan Sultans towards a comprehensive victory against Peshawar Zalmi in yesterday’s match of the PSL 2021.
Shahnawaz Dhani returned with stunning figures of 4-0-31-4 to limit Peshawar Zalmi to 166 for seven wickets down after a blistering 56 runs knock by Sherfane Rutherford. Captain Mohammed Rizwan & Sohaib Masood then stitched a blooming 116 runs partnership from 76 balls to set up the stage for Sultan’s victory with 21 balls & eight wickets in spare. Rizwan scored glittering 82 runs off 56 balls while Sohaib Masood registered 61 runs off 31 balls.

After showing exemplary performances with both bat & ball, Mohammed Rizwan & Shahnawaz moved to the top of the leading run-scorers & wicket-takers list. Shahnawaz becomes the leading wicket-taker in PSL 2021 with 13 wickets in his kitty while Rizwan is the leading run-scorer with 408 runs registered in his name. Babar Azam is the second-highest run-scorer in the PSL 2021 by scoring 343 runs for Karachi Kings.
Rizwan & Sohaib had got together after Shan Masood departed for 45 runs in the fourth over. The duos dominated Zalmi’s bowling attack with spectacular shot selection & precise hitting. Leading the Sultan Multan’s to 59 runs for just one wicket down after the Powerplay overs & 100 for one wicket at the Halfway stage.
Earlier sent to bat first, Peshawar Zalmi was reduced to 117 runs for five wickets down in the 16th over. They were able to register 166 runs for seven wickets down, thanks to the stupendous 56 runs knock-off 40 balls by none other than Sherfane Rutherford. Zalmi’ was able to register 56 runs with Rutherford leading the scoreboard. Sultans, Shahnawaz Dhani was the major threat for Zalmi’s innings as he scalped the first five wickets, removing the two openers of Pehawar’s from the crease. Shoaib Malik was sent back to the pavilion right on the very first ball he faced while Rovman Powell was caught by Mohammed Rizwan.
Islamabad United & Lahore Qalandars are leading the Points table by bagging 10 points each, followed by Peshawar Zalmi with eight points & Karachi kings & Multan Sultan with six points. Quetta Gladiators are out of the PSL 2021 play-offs race after losing six matches out of seven being played.
