WI vs SA: Shai Hope returns as West Indies Cricket announces Provisional Test squad for South Africa Series. The Cricket West Indies selection panel on Friday announced a provisional 17 player squad for the upcoming test series against South Africa.
The 17 player squad for the test series will further be cut down to an Official 13 player squad on Monday. Fast bowler Chemar Holder was not available for selection due to injury. While 19 years old fast bowler Jayden Seales is included for the first time in the West Indies Provisional squad for a Test series.
“The selectors have also revealed that four (4) other young fast bowlers Keon Harding, Preston McSween, Marquina Mindley, and Nial Smith will remain in St. Lucia to assist the Test squad with their preparations,” the CWI said in a statement. It will be South Africa’s first bilateral tour to the West Indies since 2010. This tour that has been rescheduled from the year 2020, includes two tests & five T20Is to be played from June 10 to July 3. The matches will be played in St. Lucia at the Da ren Sammy Cricket Ground & Grenada at the National Cricket Stadium, respectively.
South Africa last played a bilateral series in West Indies in the year 2010, in which South Africa won three-match test series by 2-0. While registered a clean sweep in the limited-overs series by winning the T20I & ODI series by 2-0 & 5-0 respectively.
