LSG vs RCB Eliminator Highlights: RCB beats LSG by 14 runs to march in the Qualifier 2 with Pride

LSG vs RCB Eliminator Highlights: The LSG vs RCB Eliminator clash held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata was no less than a roller coaster ride for cric-lovers, as till the last over, the game was in the deciding mode. But thanks to Josh Hazlewood’s on-point bowling attack who sclaped two wickets in the 19th over to turn the momentum in their favor.

The show was all about Rajat Patidar who scored an unbeaten 112 off 54 balls to guide RCB to a mammoth total on board. Rajat Patidar’s blistering 112-run knock accompanied by a lethal bowling show by Harshal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga & Josh Hazlewood, RCB registered a crucial 14 runs win over LSG in the Eliminator match on Wednesday. With this victory, RCB have reached the Qualifier 2 where they will face Rajasthan Royals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday.

Patidar’s stellar batting show laid the foundation for RCB’s Gleaming Win

Batting first, RCB suffered an early blow as they lost two wickets in the powerplay overs. However former RCB Captain Virat Kohli then joined hands with Rajat Patidar & did the rebuilding work for their side. The duo of Virat & Patidar stitched a good 66 runs stand for the second wicket to get them going. But soon Avesh Khan provided LSG the much-needed breakthrough by dismissing Virat Kohli for 25 runs in the ninth over. Patidar was heading strong with the bat but failed to get support from the other end. Faf Du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and Mahipal Lomror all got dismissed cheaply but it didn’t affect Patidar’s intent on the other end.

Rajat Patidar displayed his prowess with the bat by registering his maiden century in just 49 balls. He went on to score scintillating 112 runs off 54 balls by smashing 12 boundaries and seven sixes. Rajat got good support in face of Dinesh Karthik who smashed an unbeaten 37 off 23 balls in an innings embellished with five boundaries and a six. The duo stitched an unbeaten 93 run-stand for the fifth wicket & helped RCB to end their innings at 207 for four in the allotted 20 overs. For Lucknow Super Giants, Mohsin Khan, once again, bowled well and returned with figures of 1 for 25 in 4 overs. While others failed to scalp quick wickets which was the need of the hour.

LSG batters succumbed to RCB’s lethal bowling Spell

In reply, LSG who posted 210 mammoth total in their previous clash without losing even a single wicket had a poor start in the Eliminator clash. LSG lost their top order cheaply. They lost their hero Quinton De Kock in the first over itself. Manan Vohra too was sent packing after scoring 19 runs in 11 balls. However, LSG managed to score 62 runs at the end of the power-play over. With the loss of early wickets, KL Rahul & Deepak Hooda then took the charge of the chase & tried to resurrect their innings. The duo stitched a 96 run-stand for the third wicket & were trying their best to bring Lucknow back on the winning track. But Harshal Patel & Hasarnga were making it difficult for the duo to score at a brisk rate by smashing regular boundaries.

Fall of Wickets ended LSG’s every hope of Qualifying for the Final

Soon LSG suffered a major jolt when Deepak Hooda got dismissed in the 15th over after scoring 45 runs off 26 balls smashing one boundary & four sixes. None of their other batters could actually create a mark with the bat as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. KL Rahul on the crease was the only hope of winning for Lucknow Super Giants. LSG was 167-3 & required 41 runs in the final three overs to win the clash. In the crucial death overs, Harshal Patel was introduced into the attack who gave away just eight runs in the 18th over & also dismissed Marcus Stoinis.

In the 19th over, Hazlewood ended every hope of winning for LSG by scalping two wickets including the prized wicket of KL Rahul & conceding just 9 runs. KL Rahul went back to the hut after scoring 79 runs off 58 balls with three boundaries & five sixes. The last two overs were the turning point in the game as LSG lost three wickets in the span of three overs & were restricted to 193 for 6 in the end. For RCB the star bowler was Australia’s pacer Josh Hazlewood who scalped three wickets by conceding 43 runs.
