Pakistani seamer Mohammad Abbas has signed a two-year deal with Hampshire County club. This deal means that Abbas will stay with Hampshire as one of their overseas players for the next two seasons of County Cricket.
“Mo has been a big influence on the team,” Giles White, Hampshire’s director of cricket, said. “Since his arrival, he has been both an incredible performer and a fantastic role model. To have him around for the next two years is a major boost to the squad.”
Abbas created a mark in County Championship the moment he joined Hampshire Club in 2021. Throughout his stint with Hampshire, Abbas has scalped 91 wickets at an average of 16.83. He was an integral part of their seam bowling attack comprising Kyle Abbott & Keith Barker. Abbas’s vital contributions with the ball helped Hampshire to finish third in Division One of County Season 2021, behind Surrey & Lancashire.

After signing a two-year deal, Abbas said that he is delighted to have signed a new contract with Hampshire & will be staying with the club for two more years. He also emphasized that he loved the time he had spent at the Ageas Bowl & would try to push the team forward for silverware in the upcoming seasons of the County Championship.
Mohammad Abbas has been an integral part of Hampshire’s red-ball title run for the last two seasons scalping 50 wickets in 2022 when Hampshire ended behind of Surrey. In the County season 2021, Abbas managed to scalp 41 wickets at an economy of 15.87. Notably, during his second fixture for Hampshire, he turned the heads around by scalping nine wickets against Middlesex. Abbas who last played Test Cricket for the National team back in August 2021 will play for Hampshire in their next two seasons.
