Mumbai to host two U-19 Women’s Tri-Series in Nov-Dec Window

Mumbai is all set to host two separate U-19 Women’s tri-series in November-December involving West Indies & New Zealand teams. The BCCI is arranging these matches in preparation for the U-19 Women’s World Cup in South Africa next year. India will field two teams U-19 A & B who will be touring West Indies & New Zealand one after the another.

The BCCI has collaborated with the MCA to host the U-19 Women’s tri-series at different venues across Mumbai. DY Patil & BKC have been reserved for these matches which will be played from November 20 to December 6.

“The idea is to have robust preparation for the Under-19 World Cup and the selectors will have a range of players to pick as we are planning to field two Indian teams,” said a source in the knowledge of the arrangement.

The inaugural U-19 Women’s World Cup & Women’s T20 World Cup will be held in 2023

The inaugural edition of the U-19 Women’s World Cup will be played from January 14 to 29. On the other hand, the senior Indian Women’s team will face Australia in a five-match T20I series at home. The first match of the series will be played on December 9. The venues of the fixtures haven’t been finalized yet. These series will act as a preparatory ground for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup which will also be played in South Africa from February 10 to 26.

Notably, Indian Women’s Cricketers will draw their first-ever equal pay as compared to their male counterparts when they will play against Australia Women on their home ground. Just a few days back the BCCI scripted history by announcing an equal pay policy for men’s & women’s cricketers. This means Indian Women Cricketers will get equal fees i.e. INR 15 lakh, INR 6 lakh, and INR 3 lakh for a Test, an ODI, and a T20I for International fixtures just as their male counterparts. The BCCI is actively working towards launching a five-team Women’s IPL in 2023.
