PAK vs ENG: Pakistan’s fast bowler Naseem Shah has contracted pneumonia & has been admitted to the hospital. A source close to PCB told media that Shah was brought to the hospital on Tuesday night after suffering from high fever. Due to high fever & chest infection, the fast bowler was admitted to the hospital. After conducting several tests, the reports revealed that Naseem Shah has contracted Pneumonia. And thus he will be unavailable for the fifth T20I against England
Speaking about Naseem Shah, PCB said that the fast bowler’s condition is monitored by their in-house medical panel & any calls on his participation in the remaining of the England series will be taken after assessing his recent medical reports. However, the development rules him out of the remaining T20I matches against England & increases doubt over his availability in their upcoming New Zealand tour. Ongoing England vs Pakistan series is currently tied at 2-2. Both the teams would aim to take a lead in the PAK vs ENG 5th T20I of the series to be played in Lahore.
Naseem Shah is doubtful for New Zealand tri-series due to pneumonia
Naseem Shah has featured in the opening match of the ENG vs PAK T20I series where he returned with figures of 1-41. In the absence of Shaheen Shah Afridi who is under rehabilitation for a knee injury, Naseem Shah has emerged as Pakistan’s premier fast bowler. He made his debut in the Asia Cup 2022 picking seven wickets in five matches for Pakistan.
Naseem also performed well with the bat by smashing a six in Pakistan’s Super 4 fixture against Afghanistan which helped the team to book a spot in the finals. On the back of his good run in the Asia Cup 2022, Naseem Shah earned a spot in the Pakistan T20 World Cup 2022 squad. Naseem’s availability in the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand is of utmost importance for Pakistan with Shaheen still staying out of action.
Meanwhile, Pakistan will play a tri-series in New Zealand involving Bangladesh beginning on October 7 with the final match on October 14. After the conclusion of the tri-series, Pakistan will depart for Australia to participate in the World Cup 2022. After playing a couple of warm-ups, Pakistan will begin its world cup campaign on October 23 against India.
