Former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif took to his Official twitter handle & shared a throwback picture from India’s most famous win against England in the NatWest Trophy final dated back in 2002. Mohammad Kaif tweeted, “July 13, 2002: The day we climbed Mt Everest at Lord’s…Dada shirtless, Yuvi nerveless, Zak’s support priceless, Me fearless…memories endless”. Mohammad Kaif was the star of India’s spectacular win against England as he scored an unbeaten 87 from 75 balls & helped India hail an emphatic win.
Indian Off Spinner Harbhajan Singh took to Twitter & shared memories from the famous victory & wrote, “What a win this was”. During the chase, Harbhajan Singh scored 15 runs which proved crucial for India’s chase. However, he could enjoy the winning finish of the match with Mohammad Kaif as Andrew Flintoff clean bowled him.
BCCI’s Offciial Twitter Handle also shared a video from the final priceless moments of the historic victory & wrote, “#OnThisDay in 2002.. #TeamIndia scripted history by winning the Natwest Trophy Final at Lord’s”.
The highlight of the 2002 historic chase was the partnership between Yuvraj & Kaif. Yuvraj & kaif successfully stitched a partnership of 121 runs which helped India to fight back in the match. Yuvraj Singh scored 69 from 63 balls and helped India reach closer to victory.
After Yuvraj’s dismissal, it seemed difficult for team India to score the 325 run mark as Mohammad Kaif was running out of partners. However, Kaif held his nerves & got full support from the Indian bowlers who jumped in with their valuable contributions. Zaheer was on the striking side in the final over of the match and hit the winning runs for team India.
