A stupendous batting stint from Karim Jannat and Mohammad Nabi along with a restricted bowling stint from Rashid Khan helps Afghanistan to beat Zimbabwe by 45 runs in the 2nd T20I in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
Karim Jannat hit 53 runs off 38 balls as he registered his maiden International half-century while Nabi’s 13 balls 40 runs helped Afghanistan to seal an impressive 193-5 victory after they won the toss & opted to bat first. Head Spinner Rashid khan scalped 3 wickets for 30, picking up all the three wickets in the 17th over, as Zimbabwe were dismissed for 148 runs to give Afghanistan a 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. Afghanistan won the first match by 48 runs. The third & final match will be played on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
Zimbabwe lost Tinashe Kamunhukamwe off the first ball of their run chase & Captain Sean Williams for nine runs in the second over to restrict Zimbabwe to 11-2. Ryan Burl & Richmond Mutumbami stitched a 62 runs partnership for the sixth wicket to give Zimbabwe a big belief. Nabi who also took 2-20, broke their partnership while Rashid Khan held the attack until 10th over & dismissed Burl to end Zimbabwe’s all hopes to win.
Earlier Jannat scored his half-century by hitting big shots after losing his partner Rahmanullah Gurbaz for nine, hitting four sixes & three fours. But it was Nabi who accelerated Afghanistan’s innings, hitting four sixes in a whirlwind knock. Nabi hit three sixes off Spinner Brandon Mavuta’s over & scored 23 runs. Usman Ghani also contributed with 49 runs off 34 balls & shared 102 runs for the second wicket with Jannat. For Zimbabwe, paceman Muzarabani was the pick of bowlers who scalped 2-44.
