Ajinkya Rahane who has returned on Thursday from the Australia tour along with other team members received a warmth welcome by his neighbors & fans. He recently took to twitter to share an adorable picture where he is seen spending some quality time with his daughter.
Leading the team in the absence of regular captain Kohli’s absence Rahane guided team India to a memorable 2-1 series win over Australia. After spending five months out of country during which he travelled to two countries & eight cities, India’s Test Vice-Captain was finally back to his “favorite city” among his favorite people. “5 months. 2 countries. 8 cities later, back to spending some quality time with my favorites, in my favorite city,” Rahane captioned the picture on the micro-blogging site.
Kohli returned back to home after the first test match which India had lost by eight wickets, Ajinkya Rahane took over the captaincy & lead the team from forefront by scoring the only century by an Indian player in the series in Melbourne Cricket Ground. Rahane’s outstanding performance lifted the motivation of the team & they went on to win the match, levelling the series 1-1.
Ajinkya Rahane finished the series as fifth highest run scorer with 268 runs scored from eight innings. Rahane earned wide appreciation for his leadership skills & the way he led the entire team to historic triumphant. After several key players were missing from team due to injuries, Rahane showed great trust in the inexperienced players & they rose up to the occasion & delivered for the team.
Fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj, who made his Test Debut in the second test at the MCG was one of the pick of the bowlers of the test series for India as he finished as the most successful bowler in the team by scalping 13 wickets. After picking his maiden test five wicket haul, Siraj appreciated Rahane’s leadership & thanked him for showing trust in him & other youngsters. “I would like to thank Rahane who showed trust in me and the youngsters. He was constantly talking to me and he gave me confidence,” said Siraj at the end of day four play at the Gabba.
