Former India pacer Ajit Agarkar believes that leading a high profile franchise like RCB has helped Virat Kohli to progress in his International Career as well.
Virat Kohli has been leading RCB since 2013 but the franchise is yet to win an IPL title. Virat Kohli’s best performance for the franchise came in 2016. When RCB reached the finals of the IPL & Virat had scored more than 900 runs in a single IPL season.
“Massive we saw how quick his progress in International Cricket has been. So, when you do well there, you are already confident, but then to be a captain of a franchise with such a big fan base & to be as consistent as he has certainly helped him. You are under pressure every day when you go on the crease to play for RCB. Playing for India is just as big or bigger. But you are still under pressure day in & day out”, said Ajit Agarkar in the Star Sports show ‘Cricket Connected’.
“When you keep scoring runs, you know your psyche is built. And you are at ease with your game & Kohli has done that. I think being a captain of RCB & scoring runs has helped him in his International career as well. I am sure he would say that IPL has had a huge impact on his career as overall as it has panned out”, Agarkar added.
RCB currently on the top spot on the IPL Points table with 6 points scored from 3matches. Glenn Maxwell who had a good time with the bat in the last few seasons of the IPL has managed to maintain a good form in the IPL 2021. He has scored 176 runs in three matches he played for RCB.
RCB has managed to win all three matches in the IPL 2021 & will next face Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
