Axar Patel has recovered from COVID-19 & has rejoined the Delhi Capitals squad for the rest of the IPL 2021. “Smiles & hugs all around as Bapu returned to the Delhi Capitals Camp”, the Delhi Capitals tweeted a video of Axar meeting his teammates. Axar Patel on Friday expressed his excitement about meeting his teammates after a long time. “Happy to be back @DelhiCapitals”, Axar tweeted.

Axar was very happy to resume his training & meet his teammates. “It has been really good to come out of the quarantine after 20 days & meet my teammates. This is the best moment of my life after my test debut. I was alone in my room for 20 days & didn’t have anything to do”, said Axar Patel.

“I was watching the matches & one good thing was that our team won most of the matches so I got even more motivated to rejoin our team. It has been great to start practicing with the team & I am happy about my preparations”, Axar Patel added.

Axar had tested positive for the SARS COV-2 virus during his mandatory quarantine period before the start of the IPL 2021. He was taken to BCCI’s medical facility for isolation & treatment. Last week, Delhi Capitals brought in Shams Mulani as a short-term COVID-19 replacement for Axar Patel. Mulani is a left-handed batsman & a left-arm slow bowler from Mumbai. He came as a replacement for Axar under the VIVO IPL’s Player Regulations.

According to the VIVO IPL Player’s Regulations, franchisees are allowed to sign a short-term replacement player until the original member is permitted to rejoin the team’s bio-secure bubble. Hence Mulani will not be a part of the Delhi Capitals franchise since Axar has rejoined the team.

Delhi Capitals has also signed Anirudha Joshi as a replacement for the injured player Shreyas Iyer. DC’s regular Captain was ruled out of the IPL 2021 after he sustained a shoulder injury during the India-England ODI series.

Joshi is a middle-order batsman & an off-spinner who was previously a part of the RCB & RR squad in the past. He represents Karnataka in domestic cricket & has featured in 17 list A & 22 T20 matches so far. Delhi Capitals are currently placed in third spot on the Points Table by winning three games from four matches. Delhi Capitals will face SRH in their next match on Sunday.
