Babar Azam moves up to 2nd Spot in the ICC Men’s T20I Rankings!
Pakistan’s Captain Babar Azam moves up to the second spot in the ICC men’s T20I rankings released on April 21. Whereas India Captain Virat Kohli remains at the fifth spot in the ICC T20I Rankings.
Babar’s scintillating form had helped him to replace Virat Kohli at the top spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Rankings which was released last week. This week in ICC Men’s T20I Rankings, Babar climbed 47 places up to overtake Aaron Finch after scoring 122 in the third match.
However, Babar is still 48 points behind top-ranked Dawid Malan in the T20I Rankings. Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe which will start from Wednesday will provide Babar with an opportunity to grab the top spot which he has occupied till November last year.
Mohammad Rizwan grabs the 15th Spot in the ICC Rankings List!
Wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan who scored unbeaten 73 runs in the third match has moved up eight places to reach his career-best 15th position in the ICC Rankings list. Left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has attained his career-best 11th spot after scalping a wicket each in the two matches while Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz (up to four places to 24th) and Haris Rauf (up 43 places to 38th) have also moved up in the bowlers’ list.
Rassie Van Der Dussen moves up three slots on Sixth Spot in the ICC T20I Rankings!
For South Africa, Rassie Van der Dussen has moved up three slots to the sixth position after scoring 34 not out & 52 against Pakistan. Aiden Markram (up 31 places to 34th) and Janneman Malan (up 52 places to 73rd) are the other batsmen to move up from the team while left-arm spinner George Linde (up 29 places to 107th) has also progressed.
Sandeep Lamichhane reaches the 77th spot while Gyanendra Malla reached the 107th spot in the ICC Men’s T20I Weekly Update!
The ICC T20I weekly update also considers the first four matches of the ongoing Nepal tri-series that features Netherlands & Malaysia apart from the hosts. Nepal leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane advanced eight places to the joint-77th position after taking eight wickets in three outings of the tournament while his captain Gyanendra Malla has moved up 10 places to 107th position among batsmen.
Pakistan retains 4th spot in the ICC men’s T20I Team Rankings after scoring 2 Points!
Pakistan’s 3-1 victory in the recently ended T20I series against South Africa comes as a moral motivation in the year of the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup. But Pakistan still remains in the fourth position in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings after scoring two points & reaching 262 points. Whereas South Africa still retains the sixth position in the ICC Men’s T20I Team rankings led by England but has lost two points and is now on 249.
