Back on this Day in 1994, Sachin Tendulkar scores his Maiden ODI Century!


Back on this day in 1994, legendary Indian Batsman Sachin Tendulkar scored his maiden ODI century after playing 78 cricket matches over a span of five years.

It was on this day 26 years ago that Tendulkar scored his first century of 49 ODI centuries in a match against Australia in Colombo. The 19 year old batsman scored 110 runs out of 130 balls in an innings when no other Indian batsman could cross the 50 run mark. Sachin’s innings played a crucial role in team’s victory in the match as India won the innings by 31 runs.

Scahin Tendulkar has been awarded the Player of the match award for his outstanding knock which included two sixes & eight fours. Tendulkar scored his Test century before scoring an ODI century. At the age of 17 years & 112 days he became the third-youngest batsman to score a Test ton.

The Mumbai based legendary player had an illustrious career in the game. Tendulkar made his debut in Test Cricket back on November 15 1989. In the same year he also played his first ODI match. Tendulkar is the highest test scorer with 15,921 runs and 51 centuries, the most by any player. Things are the same for Tendulkar who tops the score list in ODI format as well.
