First, it was Tamim Iqbal who had scored highest individual score in the second ODI just three days ago and now it’s Liton Das who made 176 off 143 balls, the highest ever individual ODI score for Bangladesh. Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal’s outstanding pairing has helped Bangladesh to win this 3 days ODI against Zimbabwe. Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal became the first Bangladeshi opening pair to score a hundred each as Bangladesh crushed Zimbabwe by 123 runs in the rain-hit third one-day international to complete a clean sweep in the three-match series in Sylhet on Friday. Liton made an outstanding 176 runs off 143 balls, the highest ever individual ODI score for Bangladesh, while Tamim stayed unbeaten on 128 runs off 109 balls and together the duo made a whopping 292 runs Bangladesh’s highest partnership for any wicket.

It is due to the perfect pairing of Tamim and Liton who guided Bangladesh to 322 runs in 3 wickets and 43 overs as Bangladesh’s innings was interrupted by rain, Zimbabwe was set a revised target of 342 in 43 overs under the DLS method, but they were all out at 218 off 37.2 overs with Sikandar Raza making 61.
Striking super 16 fours and eight sixes in the third ODI century and the second in the series, Liton has brilliantly broken all the records of his opening partner Tamim who scored 158 runs on Tuesday in the 2nd ODI match.

The match was full of twist and turns with rains interrupting the match and reducing it to 43 overs a side after rain halted and the match was restarted after 32.2 overs of Bangladesh’s innings, the opening duo who made 182 runs when the match was stopped added another 110 runs after the match resumed. And finally got separated. Carl Mumba finally dismissed Liton as Raza took a catch at long-on to end the record-breaking partnership, which surpassed Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad’s 224-run stand during the 2017 Champions Trophy against New Zealand in Cardiff.

Zimbabwe Captain Sean Williams was disappointed with the loss and said, “It has been a very disappointing series for us. Looking for the T20s now to put this in the past”.

Now both the teams will come face-to-face in the next two-match Twenty 20 international series at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on March 9 and 11.

The outstanding partnership of duo Tamim and Liton has smoothly taken Bangladesh towards victory. It won’t be wrong to call the duo as “Record Making Tigers!”
