Rajasthan Royals star player Ben Stokes has criticised slow pitches of MA Chidamabaram Stadium by calling it a “thrash wicket”.
Ben Stokes who is ruled out of the IPL 2021 due to a fractured finger feels that for an enjoyable IPL competition a score range of at least 160 to 170 is essential. “Hope the wickets don’t get worse as the IPL gets deeper into a tournament. 160/170 minimum not scraping to 130/140 cause the wickets are trash”, Stokes tweeted after Mumbai Indians could reach just 131 runs total for 6 wickets down which was easily chased down by the Punjab Kings.
KL Rahul & Chris Gayle played unbeaten knocks of 60 & 43 to chase the meagre 131 runs target. PBKS defeated Mumbai Indians by massive nine wickets with 14 balls to spare at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Mayank Agarwal’s wicket was the only wicket taken by Rahul Chahar of Mumbai Indians. Chahar dismissed Mayank on 25 runs scored off 20 balls. For Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma & Suryakumar Yadav played knocks of 63 & 33 to drag Mumbai Indians to a below-the-par total of 131 runs in 20 overs.
Till Friday Chennai’s stadium has hosted nine IPL games. Out of which only two teams that were batting first could score 170 plus total. Once it was RCB who posted 204 runs total against KKR. And the other team was KKR who scored 187 runs against SRH. Any score in the range of 140 to 150 has been quite good enough to win for the teams batting first.
Ben Stokes has suffered a finger injury while playing for his team Rajasthan Royals. RR will face KKR in today’s clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Chennai will host the last IPL game of the IPL 2021 on Sunday when Delhi capitals will come into a face-off against SRH before the matches shift to Ahmedabad & New Delhi.
