SRH’s star bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been ruled out of the IPL 2020 after suffering a hip injury during their match against CSK at the Dubai International Stadium on Friday.
Talking to media sources in the team confirmed that the pacer will have to skip the IPL 2020 due to his injury. “Bhuvi will not be able to take further part in this year’s tournament as he has been ruled out with a hip injury. A big blow for sure as he is someone who leads the bowling unit and is also an integral part of the leadership group on the ground,” the source said.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar suffered the injury in the 19th over of the match & walked off the field after being unable to bowl further overs. He did try to bowl & but had to stop in his stride twice before the physio decided that he needed to walk off & wouldn’t be able to take part in further games.
Speaking after the game skipper David Warner said that he didn’t have much idea on the severity of Bhuvneshwar’s injury as he was on the field when the bowler suffered an injury & walked off field & would need to check with the physio about Bhuvneshwar’s condition. “I am not too sure, have to speak to the physio, can answer this question when we have more information,” Warner had said in the post-match press conference.
At the toss in the next game of SRH against Mumbai Indians on Sunday Warner said that the pacer will miss a couple of games. But now it seems like the hip injury will led him to miss the entire season as he is also an integral part of India’s plans for the series against Australia that follows the IPL.
India is scheduled to play a full series against Australia after the IPL 2020. They will play a four match Test series followed by an ODI series. Kohli & boys were scheduled to start a T20I series with an eye on the T20 World Cup but the World Cup was postponed after the rise in coronavirus cases in India.
