Yes, you have heard it right!! Australia’s star bowler Josh Hazlewood pulls out of the IPL 2021. Netizens think that the presence of India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara is the main reason behind Hazlewood’s decision to withdraw from the IPL 2021.
Pujara & Hazlewood were going to share the dressing room for the CSK franchise. But with Hazlewood pulling out of the IPL 2021 this thing won’t happen in his season. Taking a dig on Hazlewood’s decision of not playing in the IPL 2021 one Twitterati wrote, “Josh Hazlewood has opted out of the IPL 2021, tired of bowling Pujara in the nets”.
Another Twitter user said, “Hazlewood is very smart to pull out of the IPL 2021. So that he didn’t require to bowl Pujara in the nets”. On Wednesday a video clip of Pujara hitting maximums during a CSK training session went viral on Social Media. Many Twitters users used that viral video to claim that Hazlewood got scared of bowling to Pujara in the nets.
“This is what happens when you see Pujara batting in the nets”, one Twitter user wrote by tweeting the video. Hazlewood has pulled out of the IPL 2021 as he “got tired of bio-bubbles”. He also said that he wants to spend some quality time with his family.
“It has been a long 10 months in bubbles & quarantine at different times, so I decided to have rest from Cricket & spend more time at home. In the next two months in Australia, we have got a big winter ahead too. The West Indies is going to be a long tour. Bangladesh T20 tour is also lined up after that”, cricket.com.au quoted Hazlewood as saying.
“Then potentially the T20 World Cup leading into the Ashes so it’s a big 12 months as it always is with Australia. I want to give myself the best chance to be mentally & physically ready for that. That’s the decision I have made, & it sits pretty well with me”, he added.
After India had won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia with 2-1 earlier this year, India’s Fielding Coach R Sridhar had revealed how he heard Hazlewood getting tired of bowling to Pujara. While chatting with Ashwin on his YouTube Channel, Sridhar revealed that Hazlewood was in no mood of watching Pujara’s batting videos in the dressing room.
“I have received information from the Australian dressing room where they were analyzing Pujara’s batting. Hazlewood threw his cap down & said-enough of me seeing Pujara again & again. I have seen him enough on the field”, Sridhar told Ashwin on his chat channel.
Hazlewood & Pujara had tough competition on the field in the last two matches of the India-Australia series. Both the players have enjoyed success against each other during the India tour of Australia. IPL 2021 is scheduled to be played on April 9 with Mumbai Indians facing RCB in the tournament’s Opening Clash.
