White ferns annual contracts list

Northern Spirit batter Brooke Halliday, Canterbury Magicians, all-rounder Frankie Mackay & Wellington Blaze Wicket-keeper Jess McFayden have received White Ferns Annual Contracts for the first time.

The trio joins the 2016-2018 contracted player, Thamsyn Newton. And these four players are on the contract list for the 2021-2022 season. Frankie Mackay’s inclusion was done based on her strong performance in 2019-2020 which includes her match-winning double of 46 runs & two for 20 in Napier. Whereas the pair of Newton & McFayden is included in the contract after their strong outing in domestic cricket. McFayden is given a chance to polish her wicket-keeper skills alongside experienced White Ferns player Katey Martin.

Previously contracted White Ferns players Katie Perkins, Holly Huddleston, Anna Peterson & Natalie Dodd have not received contracts for the 2021-2022 season. White Ferns Head Coach Bob Carter said that he was looking forward to a successful England tour in the coming winter & was mindful of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup to be played in New Zealand.

The Players have been contracted on the basis of the Standard Procedure in the Master Agreement where the criteria of contracting are the Players Playing value for the NZC for the contract year ahead with some emphasis on their performance in the previous 12 year period.

“Brooke & Frankie’s performances last season were very encouraging & were looking forward to working closely with those over the winter”, said Carter in an Official Statement. “We welcome back Thamsyn & are especially excited about her athletic capacity & skills in all three facets of the game”, he added.

“Jess McFayden is an exciting prospect & had string campaigns in both the Dream 11 Super Smash & Hayyburton Johnstone Shield. We need to develop our wicket-keepers & Jess has shown ability over several seasons now. She has a wise head on her shoulders & will surely be an asset to the team”, said Carter.

The White ferns squad will start their winter training programme with a camp at Lincoln University which will start on June 7
