Former India Cricketer Parthiv Patel feels that the emergence of Ruturaj Gaikwad in the domestic cricket & the return of Suresh Raina in the CSK squad can turn their fortunes ahead of the IPL 2021.

The CSK squad had a bad outing in the IPL 2020 as the franchise finished at the seventh position on the IPL Points Table. Suresh Raina had missed the IPL 2020 for personal reasons but will make a comeback to the CSK squad with this year’s IPL. CSK has also added some new players to their line-up such as Moeen Ali, K Gowtham & according to Parthiv Patel these players will give a boost to CSK’s batting line-up that other teams cannot ignore CSK’s presence in the IPL 2021.

“See, obviously they must be slightly disappointed that they have to get out of Chennai because they have got Moeen Ali in their squad, they have got K Gowtham in their squad,” said Parthiv on Star Sports‘ show “Cricket Connected.”

“In last year’s IPL CSK got knock out in the league stage because they were not able to score enough runs & then in the latter half of the tournament we saw rise of Ruturaj Gaikwad as a brilliant batsman. And now with Suresh Raina back into the squad CSK has got his strength back as Suresh Raina is an integral player in the CSK line-up”, Parthiv Patel was quoted as saying to media.

“Raina coming back to the squad with Rituraj getting back to form, we can’t consider CSK out for long time. Though MS Dhoni had a bad season last year but he is very determined to get CSK back to the track”, Parthiv Patel added.

CSK had won the IPL three times & are regarded as one of the most powerful franchises in the T20 Cricket. “These are those teams which have done well & once they win the first & second match they can start believing themselves again. So CSK won’t take time to start the tournament on a positive manner”, said Parthiv Patel.

CSK will start their campaign against Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 10.
