Mumbai Indians batsman Chris Lynn has informed that the players who are featuring in the IPL 2021 will be vaccinated for COVID-19 next week. Chris Lynn has also informed the media that he has requested Cricket Australia to arrange for a Chartered flight so that the Australian players can go back home safely after the conclusion of the IPL 2021.
“I texted back that as Cricket Australia make 10% of every IPL contract so was there any chance that we could spend that money this year on a charter flight once the IPL 2021 is over? Chris Lynn told News Corp media.
“I know there are people who are in a worse condition than us. But we are going from a really tight bubble & are getting vaccinated next week. So hopefully, our government will let us get home on a private charter plane”, he added.
The Australia batsmen further said that the players have signed the IPL contract knowing the ‘risks’. But it would be good if they get back home safely as soon as the IPL concludes. “We are not asking for any shortcuts & we signed up the contract knowing the risks. But it would be really good to get home as soon as the IPL is over”, said Chris Lynn.
KKR Pacer Pat Cummins on Monday informed that he has donated $50,000 to the PM Cares Fund to help India purchase oxygen supplies for hospitals amid the COVID-19 Pandemic. Pat Cummins also appealed to the fellow players who are playing in the IPL 2021 to come forward & donate for the same cause. India is fighting a rampant surge of COVID-19 cases with the country recorded 3,23,144 new COVID-19 cases and 2771 deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the latest update from the union health ministry on Tuesday morning.
