CSK batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad who tested positive for coronavirus last month remains in isolation & most probably would remain unavailable for CSK’s Opener match against Mumbai Indians on September 19 in Abu Dhabi.
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that batsman is absolutely fine but has not yet got the BCCI’s clearance to join the team’s bio-bubble. “Ruturaj has still not been cleared by the BCCI medical team and is in isolation. He is unlikely to be available for the first match. We are expecting him to be back in the (bubble) in the next couple of days and he is doing absolutely fine,” Viswanathan told media.
Thirteen members of the CSK squad tested positive for the virus last month & two of them were players Gaikwad & Deepak Chahar. Chahar along with other 11 has recovered & resumed training after clearing his mandatory two coronavirus tests.
Gaikwad also underwent two tests on Sunday & Monday whose results are not revealed yet. After clearing the COVID-19 test after the 14 days quarantine, a player also needs to undergo & clear cardiovascular & lung function test to ensure that he is fit again to resume training. Gaikwad is Raina’s replacement after the latter pulled out of the tournament & return back to India due to personal reasons. CSK will face Mumbai Indians in the league’s Opener match i.e. on 19th September 2020 in the UAE.
