With defeat of KKR, Mumbai Indians became the first team to Qualify for the Playoffs in the IPL 2020. CSK last ball win against KKR empowered MI to grab a direct spot in the IPL 2020 Playoffs.
While MI’s win against RCB raised their points to 16 scored off 12 matches, KKR’s defeat in yesterday’s clash means MI will not finish below fourth spot at the end of the league stage. Mumbai Indians still need to win at least one of their next two matches to directly play their first Qualifier match.
MI is not only leading the Points Table with highest points they also have the best NRR in the league. They have dominated most matches of this season which helped them to qualify directly for the IPL 2020 Playoffs. MI will be happy to take one step closer to the IPL 2020 title by qualifying directly for the Playoffs. With four trophies registered on their name, MI are undoubtedly the most successful team in the history of the IPL & will be strongly looking forward to win the title for the fifth time this year.
Currently RCB & DC are 2nd & 3rd on the Points Table with a low margin difference in their Net Run Rate. Both the teams also have to face each other in their last game of the league stage. KKR defeat gives a powerful boost to the hopes of KXIP of qualifying to the playoffs after lagging at the bottom of the Points table with seven games being played. KXIP have 12 points like KKR but have a better NRR then them & still have today’s game in hand to go ahead of KKR.
KKR can still qualify for the playoffs if they beat RR in their last match & KXIP lose their remaining games against CSK & RR. KKR’s qualification to playoffs also depends on SRH, they can qualify for playoffs when SRH lose one of their matches against RCB & MI. RR & SRH still have a chance to qualify for the playoffs as both the teams have 10 points fetched from 12 games.
