Finally, CSK got the replacement of Josh Hazlewood! CSK have signed Australian pacer Jason Behrendorff as a replacement for Josh Hazlewood for the IPL 2021.
Hazlewood pulled out of the IPL 2021 earlier this month to spend more time with his family. This IPL season will be Behrendorff’s second stint in IPL cricket. Earlier Jason Behrendorff has represented Mumbai Indians in the year 2019 where he played five wickets & scalped five wickets. Behrendorff has played in 11 ODIs & seven T20Is for Australia.
Earlier Josh Hazlewood was all set to depart for India with other Australian players but then he decided to miss this year IPL to spend more time with his family.
Hazlewood was quoted as saying, “It has been 10 months in bubbles & quarantine at different times. So I decided to take a rest from cricket & spend more time at home. In Australia, in the next two coming months, we have got a big winter ahead too. The West Indies tour is also going to be a long tour with Bangladesh tour scheduled to take place at the end of this year”.
“Then the T20 World Cup followed with the Ashes. So it’s big 12 months with Australia & I want to give myself a chance to be mentally & physically ready for that challenge. That’s the decision I have made & it goes very well with me”, Hazlewood signed off.
Ashes 2021, West Indies & Bangladesh tour followed with T20 World Cup in India were the reasons behind Hazlewood’s withdrawal from the IPL 2021. Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings will kick-start their campaign against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday, April 10.
