Former South Africa Pacer Dale Steyn is considered among the fast bowling legends & it is not hidden with anyone that England seamer James Anderson often draws comparisons with him.
James Anderson is the all-time highest wicket taker among fats bowlers, recently he earned more praise with his fine stint of reverse swing on Day 5 of the first test against India as he bowled Shubman Gill & Ajinkya Rahane in the same over. Dale Steyn while responding to a tweet analyzing the statistics of the two bowlers in Asia dismissed all the comparisons & hailed Anderson for his longevity with one witty tweet.
“The only comparison required is that Jimmy is still going and I’m watching from my 20/20 sofa. He’s a legend and seems to be getting better with age,” Steyn tweeted. James Anderson scalped five wickets in the series opener test match against England in Chennai i.e. two wickets in the first innings & three in the second innings taking his total wickets count in Test Cricket to 611. The wickets which he has taken in the second innings has helped England to seal a massive 227 runs win to take a 1-0 series lead as they continue to hunt their spot in the World Test Championship Final.
In August James Anderson dismissed Pakistan’s Azhar Ali in the third test in Southampton to become the first fast bowler to scalp 600 Test wickets. Despite of being 38 years old, he has maintained that he still wants to keep going & has gone as far as saying that he hasn’t ruled out getting to the 700 wickets mark. During England’s series win in Sri Lanka, James Anderson also registered his 30th five wicket haul in test cricket overtaking Australian legend Glen McGrath’s tally.
