India will clash with four times champion Australia in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Final. And senior India bats-woman Veda Krishnamurthy said that Team India is destined to win the trophy of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup but the team has to be very active and on their toes to defeat four-time champions Australia.

“It’s all about destiny and I am a big believer of destiny. I feel that this was the way it meant to be. A joke is going around that World Cup is made in such a way that it is helping us, starting from the wickets and everything else”, She was quoted as saying by the tournament’s official website. Harmanpreet Kaur led team India reached the finals on the advantage of winning all the matches of group stages after their Semi-Finals against England got washed out.

Krishnamurthy who was a part of an Indian team at that finished as a runner up to England in the 2017 World Cup and so she knows the pain of missing the title after coming so far in the race. The 27-year-old player said that the first goal of India was to reach finals which is almost achieved and now they have to hold their nerves and remain focused on the big day i.e Sunday!

“Our first aim was to reach the finals and take it from there we have passed the first stage and now we need to make sure that we hold our nerves and do what we need to do in the finals”, said Krishnamurthy.

Talking about Krishnamurthy, then she is considered as a great finisher. Right from scoring single-digit scores in tri-series to 20 runs off 11 balls in a finishing role against Bangladesh, in every phase she has been improved a lot. ”As an individual, the role given to me is very consistent in the last year. They have put the effort in the last year to keep me there and I have been supported by every individual not just one or two. The entire team with all the support staff have shown faith in me”, she said.

I know being a part of the World Cup I would play a crucial role to finish the innings well, which I felt was unable to do in the last World Cup in the West Indies”, she added.

Krishnamurthy said, specific roles have been set for every player of the squad and they all are trying to contribute as much as they can to help the team to achieve its goal.

Let’s hope that the sheer dedication & hard work of Krishnamurthy and the whole team India proves to be fruitful and our Indian Women’s Cricket Team win the title of ‘Champions of ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020’.
